This page sets out where we stand on affiliate links, in plain terms, so you always know whether we stand to earn anything from a link before you click it.
Where We Stand Today
Pets Facts does not currently use affiliate links. Every outbound link on the site points to a veterinary body, an animal charity or a university resource, and it is there so you can check our work against the source. We earn nothing when you follow one.
What an Affiliate Link Is
An affiliate link is a tracked link to a retailer. If you follow it and buy something, the retailer pays the publisher a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, because you pay the same price you would have paid going to the retailer directly.
If This Changes
We may add affiliate links in future, because they are a common way for a site like this to stay free to read. If we do, three things will be true:
- any page containing affiliate links will say so plainly, at the top, before the content
- this page will be updated to name the programmes we take part in
- the recommendation itself will be made exactly as it is now, on merit
What a Commission Will Never Buy
A commission cannot buy a place in a guide, a higher position in a list, or a softer line about a product’s drawbacks. If the cheaper product is the better one, we will say so. If we would not use something on our own animals, it does not go in. That standard is written down in our Editorial Policy.
Products That Affect Your Pet’s Health
Food, supplements, medication and treatment equipment are decisions to make with your vet, not with a website. Whatever we link to, and whether or not we earn from it, take health-related products to a professional who has examined your animal before you buy. Our Disclaimer explains the limits of everything we publish.
Questions
If you think a link on this site should have been disclosed and was not, please tell us through our contact page and we will fix it.
